A line of completely natural products,

NO MORE IN STOCKmade using a range of organic essential oils, which are steam distilled on site from organic aromatic plants grown in the supplier's herb gardens on the lower slopes of Mount Kenya. Where possible, locally produced bio-ingredients with beneficial properties are also used.

In certain bathoils a more particularly “Kenyan” selection of essential oils distilled from indigenous aromatic plants are used and which are sustainably harvested in the wild.

The gardens decorate Kenya’s Laikipia plateau with rows of beautiful geraniums, lavender, rosemary and lemon verbena to name just a few of the home-grown ingredients. If the ingredients cannot be grown here, they are sourced from local small-scale farmer’s and women’s groups. All the plants are purely East African; hand-sewn, picked, purified and packed.

This supplier puts asside a small percentage of the revenue earned to develop several projects for the local population.

More information

70% of the essential oils we use are organically grown and distilled on our farm.

Our Frankincense oil is carefully sourced from an organic grower group based in the arid lands of Northern Kenya. Our approach to sourcing the other ingredients in our products is combined with this supplier's wish to use the best naturally active ingredients available with a desire for practicality and simplicity.

The aim is to support small scale grower groups whilst minimising the negative impact our production process might have on our planet. This is an ongoing process.

The area is impoverished and environmentally degraded. The average family income is low, and there are high levels of unemployment. Tree cover is minimal because so many have been felled for fuel or used in construction. "We cannot work miracles, but we aim to increase employment levels in the community and set an example of how to preserve, and indeed restore, the environment. Our first step is to expand the employment we can offer. However, much of what we can do here depends on market forces so we have set up other independent projects to help", says the owner.

Here are some of the projects run by this supplier :

Kiahuko Community Self Help Group :

The aim of the project is to establish a money-making enterprise to empower this local women’s group. We have helped the group to build a bakery out of compressed bricks. We have installed a fuel efficient oven, trained the women in bread making and now wait to see if they can manage to make the project work under their own steam. We have purchased a compressed brick-making machine and this is now available to members of the community to use for their own construction projects. We hope that this will lessen the pressure on the forests of Mt Kenya to provide building materials for those who cannot afford cut stone.

Girl’s Clubs in Local Schools :

Alongside the staff of the Kiboya Primary School and Mukuri Primary School, we’ve implemented a Girl’s Club in which we hope to create a safe environment for the girls to discuss and learn about issues they face in their everyday lives. By teaching about confidence, health, HIV/AIDS, and the environment, we want to nurture and empower these young girls to become assertive leaders ready to better their lives and uplift their community.
